7 Places to visit near Durgapur - Best Daytrips

This article is very useful for the people of Durgapur, especially for students. As I spend 4 years of my college life in Durgapur and budget traveling was very important and day trips as taking permission for staying was a big deal. So here is my list of places to visit in a day from Durgapur- 

MAITHON DAM
Maithon Dam
  APPROX BUDGET: 250/- per head
  HOW TO REACH:
      By train: The nearest railway station from Maithon Dam is Kumardhubi, which is 9 km away and then reserve an auto to the.
               By bus: The easiest way is to take a bus to Asansol and then take a bus plying on the way to Maithon Dam.

PANCHET DAM

PANCHET DAM

  APPROX BUDGET: 350/- per head
  HOW TO REACH:
      By train: The nearest railway station from Panchet Dam is Kumardhubi, which is 10 km away and then reserve an auto to the Dam.
      By bus: You can take a bus to Asansol, which is 37 km from Panchet Dam and then hire a car to reach the Dam.

SANTINIKETAN

  APPROX BUDGET: 400/- for two people and solo 500/-
  HOW TO REACH:
       By train: The nearest railway station from Santiniketan is Bolpur and Prantik. There is no direct train from Durgapur to Bolpur or Prantik.
       By bus: The The best way to reach Bolpur from Durgapur is by bus. SBSTC bus runs frequently in this route. You can board the bus either from the Durgapur city center or bus stand.

MAMA BHAGNE PAHAR
  APPROX BUDGET: 250/- per head
  HOW TO REACH:
             By train: The nearest railway station from Mama Bhagne Pahar is Dubrajpur. There is only one direct train from Durgapur, which is HOOL EXPRESS(22321) at 09:25. And it returned back at  13:27 in Dubrajpur. You can also opt for Bardhawan-Asansol memu and changed in Andal for  Andal-Sainthia memu. Then take a toto to the Hill.
      By bus: SBSTC bus runs frequently in this route. You can board the bus either from the Durgapur city center or bus stand.

MUKUTMANIPUR
MUKUTMANIPUR

        APPROX BUDGET: 300/- per head
        HOW TO REACH:        
                   By train: The nearest railway station from Mukutmanipur in Bankura. But Durgapur and Bankura are not well connected by rail.
        By bus: There are few direct buses from Durgapur to Mukutmanipur, which will take 2 and a half hours. If you missed the direct bus, you can also board a bus to Khatra via Bankura, which runs frequently and then take a tempo to Mukutmanipur. But it will take around 4 hrs to reach.

SUSUNIA HILL
  APPROX BUDGET: 250/- per head
  HOW TO REACH:
      By train: The nearest railway station from Susuniya in Bankura. But Durgapur and Bankura are not well connected by rail.
        By bus: There are two direct buses from Durgapur to Susuniya hill otherwise You have to take two buses,  one from Durgapur to Bankura and another is from Bankura to Susuniya hill.

         HOW TO REACH:
                     By train: The nearest railway station from Joychandi Pahar is Joychandi Pahar. You have   to reach Asansol first by Bardhawan-Asansol memu, then board any train from Asansol to Joychandi Pahar as per your convenience of time. Then reserve a tempo to the Hill.
                  By bus: Buses run frequently from Durgapur to Asansol, then board any train from Asansol to Joychandi Pahar as per your convenience of time. Then reserve a tempo to the Hill.
